Hi all,

So, a friend gave me a link to this song on Youtube. I liked it and wanted to play and sing along on guitar but I couldn’t find the guitar chords online, only the lyrics.

Update: Youtube might be blocking playing this song on WordPress. Something about “SME Content” …

If so you can find it here youtube.com/watch?v=qNU5t3k7cEA

Pozo-Seco Singers Group back in 1968 – Don Williams and Lofton Kline and Susan Taylor.

Credit to youtube channel: rockwithstone for posting a very nice video !!!

But where are the guitar chords online ?

Since, I’m a very lousy guitar player and don’t have a good musical ear I haven’t ever tried to listen to a song and figure out the chords before, below is my very first attempt.

Feel free to comment and correct me. I might be completely off. But it may help someone else that is looking for this.

If the basic chords are NOT available on the web then no beginners can learn to play this song. Hopefully, we get some comments to bring this song back to life.

Warning on Chords – I experimented with these chords to try and play along with original recording.

TIME by Pozo-Seco Singers Written By Michael.Merchant ( around 1966 )
Capo 1: seems to match the original female voice recording I heard on Youtube
Capo 3: matches my voice better
Intro: …

(A)Some people (Bm) run, (E)some people (A)crawl,
(A)Some people (Bm) don’t even (E)move at (A)all.
(A)Some roads lead (Bm) forwards; (E)some roads lead(A) back.
(A)Some roads are (Bm) bathed in light; (E)some wrapped in fearful(A) black.
Chorus
(A)Time, oh (Bm) time (E) where did you (A) go? (A) …
(A)Time, oh (Bm) good, good time (E) where did you (A) go? (A) …

(A)Some people (Bm) never get, (E) some never (A) give
(A)Some people (Bm) never die and (E) some never (A) live
(A)Some people (Bm) treat me mean (E) some treat me (A) kind
(A)Most folks just (Bm) go their way (E) don’t pay me any (A) mind

(A)Time, oh (Bm) time (E) where did you (A) go? (A) …
(A)Time, oh (Bm) good, good time (E) where did you (A) go? (A) …

(A) Sometimes I’m (Bm)satisfied; (E)sometimes I’m (A) not.
(A) Sometimes my (Bm)face is cold, (E)sometimes it’s (A) hot.
(A) Sunset I (Bm)laugh; (E) sunrise I (A) cry,
(A) At midnight I’m (Bm) in between (E)and wondering (A) why.

(A)Time, oh (Bm) time (E) where did you (A) go? (A) …
(A)Time, oh (Bm) good, good time (E) where did you (A) go?

BTW, famous Country Western Singer – Don Williams was in this group !

Yeah Yeah Yeah, Yeah Long live the oldies but goodies

Paul

Update on 9/23/2011 – Hold your horses on those CHORDS !!!

Thanks to wikipedia, I found more info on the group here.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pozo-Seco_Singers

I then found out that Susan Taylor is now called Taylor Pie.

Then I search Youtube for her and found her wonderful video here.

On this video I can see they are playing in the key of G.

So I believe the chords for the original recording ( key of A with capo 1 ) may be WRONG !!!

Now to try and figure out from the video. After the initial G chord she slides her hand down the neck to ? and back to Am so it looks like G Am D G with no capo repeated ( instead of A Bm E A capo 1)
Taylor Pie with The Cumberland Trio – Time

Wow, also found these…

Looks like I can see the guitar neck up close in a few shots ! Sweet

2010 video here in a quiet room setting – very sweet !

Wow, her voice seems to be even richer now. Enjoy !

Here is a summary of how I made a video from a live performance using basic software on the Windows platform.

Venue: Cloverleaf Bakery outside patio in Temple City Ca.

Date: Sat night, 9/17/2011 – 8-9:30pm

Camera: Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS3 – 2+ years old now

Lighting: none, venue had outside lights, Lumix performs well in low light situations.

Sound: none, use Lumix camera microphone ( stereo )

Camera Access: easy, very few people in attendance which allowed me direct

access to members for close up video.

Weather: ideal, very balmy evening with no wind

Cooperation: Very good, band was receptive to amateur photographer
without prior agreement

Design Strategy:

Pictures: Take still images from various positions for the 3 players
and some group shots

Video: Capture live video with sound for various songs in the set
Note: Camera set to record with .MOV format and not .M2TS

format since .MOV is easier for me to handle and I don’t see a big

loss of quality

Video construction:

Computer: Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop 4GB ram ( 4 years old ) running

Windows 7

Other Media / Resources:

myspace.com – Tymeles page – play the “Bluer Skies” sample and record
on my handheld Digital Voice Recorder ( 7 years old ) to .wav file

Capture the group image in their promotional PDF file and add to the

end of the video - using Snagit32 screen capture program and save as

jpg

Windows Software:

Pictures: Picasa 3.8 to create Collage picture

Video: Sony Vegas Movie Studio 9 Platinum version ( 2+ years old )

collect media:
pictures .jpg, music – .wav and video .mov files into a new project

Use editing techniques to
fade in and fade out the sound on the video files
overlap the pictures and video for smoother transitions

Images Slide Show section
organize the images at the beginning of the video and use the
Bluer Skies wav file as the background sound.
NOTE: I converted the .wav file to .mp3 with Youtubedownloader but

the sound was a little distorted.
Good thing Sony Vegas accepts the .wav sound format as well as

.mp3

Video section
I didn’t really edit much of the video at all to cut any footage

out ( but I could have )
The sound was fine so I didn’t make any adjustments

Intro / Trailer
Use the group Collage picture at the beginning and end

Video Text
Added explantory text throughout the video to identify band

members

Video Output - .wmv
The video is 7.5 minutes long and about 250mb long in HD 720 format.
It took about 45 minutes to render.

Youtube upload
I was able to upload the big file on youtube in about 1/2 hour.
This was unusual for me as I have had serious problems with

uploading in the past ( especially with big files ).

Set the Video title
Tymeles band at Cloverleaf Temple City CA 09/17/2011

Added Description Text

Tymeles ( TIme Less ) – easy rock

Chris Tejada, Howard Skinner, Jon Inatomi are out of Downey Ca.

Perform their own title: Bluer Skies
with Covers of:
Lodi – Credence
Things we said today – Beatles
El Sabor De Mi
Country Roads – Denver
Tequila Sunrise – Eagles
My Back Pages – Byrds / Dylan

at Cloverleaf Bakery in Temple City Ca.
Where I catch the action on my Lumix Panasonic DMC-ZS3 camera.

Added Tags
Tymeles Beatles Credence Eagles Byrds Cover Music Band Lumix

The uploaded video is here less than 24 hours from event:

Post Mortem Review:

I never met the band before and just saw them playing when I got to the bakery. I just took out my Panasonic Lumix and started shooting !

Since, I’m having problems with Windows Live Movie Maker on Windows 7
I am using Sony Vegas instead. Movie Maker is much easier to use for

simple videos with no special/advanced effects ( except for music fade ins

and outs). But Sony Vegas takes the MOV and WAV files directly with no conversions !

I believe i’m at an intermediate level with Sony Vegas and have to

give credit to Bill Myers instructional videos ( and others ) on

youtube.

Q. What do you think of the music ?

Best to u, LA Guy

I titled this post: And no kind deed shall go unnoticed !

But for those with negativity its: No good deed goes unpunished!

if you do something good, you will end up in trouble.

I would rather believe that:

No good deed goes unrewarded !

meaning you get the satifaction/reward for doing good.

How was your Sunday ?

Hi all,

So, I wanted to play around on the laptop and see how to use the “Text to Speech” feature in Windows 7 ( my Dell Inspiron E1525 is 2.5 years old now … ) . I believe I read that it’s also there in XP and Vista.

Step 1: Configure your speaker voice and voice speed in Control Panel – Speech Recognition ( see screen shot below )

Step 2: Find your document with text to be read and cut and paste into Notepad.

Also, minimize or close other applications.

Step 3: Start Menu – type: Narrator to open Windows 7 Speech Narration program

Step 4: Toggle with mouse back to Notepad and “select some text” and the Narrator program should start talking.

NOTE: I had problems trying to use a Word Document directly so I switched to Notepad.

Also, the Narrator program likes to “read the current open application / window”. So by playing around with setting focus from the Narrator window to the Notepad window and selecting text to be read finally started working.

I found the speech to be a little off but much better than I remember from the past. The speech is no longer robotic.

I think it can be a little helpful to those who want to hear how reading the text sounds like even though it’s not 100% accurate.

Good Luck !

LA Guy

Happy New Year 2011 to all !

So, I’ve been procrastinating on creating a video for my Acupuncture Doctor, Nosh.

I used Sony Vegas to edit a 8 minute video down to 4 minutes total.

The process involves quite a bit of work to “edit stuff out” and keep the comments aligned at the proper positions and making the appropriate comments.
Background music selection and sound volume need to be pleasant and supporting.

The original video (.WMV) rendered was about 185mb but I used my “Super” utility to convert to a Flash Video .FLV to just about 10mb for upload to Youtube.

Here is the embedded link to the video

So, I hope Nosh likes it ….

Hi again,

So, recently I took some shots with my Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS5 camera and decided to use the new Windows Live Movie Maker – WLMM ( in Windows Essentials 2011 upgrade )

to make another .WMV movie. I didn’t notice anything special about this version except it crashed when I added the .MTS ( AVCHD ) files from my camera to the project and it

turns out that there NOT supported in this upgraded version of Windows Live Movie Maker ( I don’t recall having this problem until I upgraded ). So, I decided to just remove all the .MTS files from this project for now and just use photos ( I could convert the .MTS to .AVI or .WMV but don’t know what s/w I would use at the moment what a pain ….. ). For future reference, my camera does support Motion JPEG or .MOV format which M$ says is supported in WLMM, so next time I will try using Motion JPEQ format .

NEW PROJECT – add nice photo Label to the DVD

What was new for me this time was to create a fancy label to stick on top of the plain DVD that was created.

Pre-requisites: I have a old Epson RX620 Inkjet printer for which I just re-filled the ink so I’m ready to go. I did try printing 5 x 7 photos

with this printer and they came out ok. I got the glossy 5 x 7 paper at Costco last year ( don’t remember the cost for 100 photos ).

Step 1: Buying DVD Labels at local store

So, I went to local Office Depot to see what kind of labels they had and picked up the

Avery Glossy White CD Labels for Ink Jet Printers – 8942 catalog number.

which turn out to be quite expensive since I only get 10 sheets of 2-up labels for a total of 20 disc labels

for $22 + $2 tax = $24. So each label costs about $1.20.

It turns out that there was NO specific DVD labels there and I bought the photo labels specifically made for CDs.

There was a comment that DVD labels need to withstand more heat and faster spinning but since I couldn’t find ones, I decided to

just try with the CD Labels ( even at $1.20 a pop ).

Step 2: Downloading the software to print / design on the labels

www.avery.com/media look for the Design Pro 5.5 for the 8931 or 8942

It’s about 85mb download, so it takes a while.

2A. Printer Calibration: Installing was straightforward and the first step is to print a test page on your inkjet printer (on plain paper )

to make sure the printing alignment is accurate.

Mine was fine …. lucky I guess.

2B. Find Template – Now you need to play with the software to find the 8931 / 8942 Media Labels Design Template.

2C. Design Label – Then you design your label by importing pictures and put text ( circular )

2D. Print Label – Printing on the 2-up paper in Portrait mode only worked with 1 label at a time. The default template wanted to print 2 at a time in landscape mode but

the Avery CD Label paper was in Portrait. So, printing 1 label at a time in Portrait mode was straightforward.

Caution: My Epson RX620 printer prints the 1st ( top ) label on the bottom label of the sheet.

Here is what I did. Note: I used Picasa 3 ( Free ) from Google to design the Collage of Photos and Text into a single picture and then I imported it into this program.

I inserted the bottom text with the program.

Software comments: The Avery Design Pro 5.5 software worked just OK on my Windows 7 Ultimate 32 Bit Dell Inspiron E1525 laptop with 4 MB RAM.

Saving the project to a .ZDL takes a long time.

Closing comments: I will have to see if there are problems with using these “CD Glossy Photo” paper on the DVDs ( I hope not ).

Aligning your label on the DVD – without buying the tool …

There is one final tip that I might make on how to align and put the sticky label on the DVD.

Step 1: Use your Blank CD / DVD holder as an alignment tool.

Step 2: Remove sticky label and place sticky side up and center it with fingers.

Step 3: Put CD/DVD with Top Side facing down on top of the label.

It should be aligned fairly well !

If you really want more exact alignment then make your own center hole with the exact radius of the hole,

then when you place the sticky label down it will be aligned and not move ! ( or spend $10 bucks to buy 1 if you’re doing lots and lots of these ).

Like anything new, it takes some time and experimenting to get the final result.

Thanks for visiting, LA Guy

Purpose: To customize the boring Windows 7 logon page with your own image

Well, the normal logon page is pretty boring, so I investigated on how to change it.

This link provides the instructions on how to do it by modifying the Windows Registry ( for advanced users ) or to download a free windows program to do it for you ( which I did ! ).

http://www.intelliadmin.com//index.php/2009/07/change-the-windows-7-logon-background-free-utility/

Warning: The image you use should be less than 256KB according to the Post.

Creating an Image: I used the free utility Paint.Net to add some Text on top of some Windows Background Theme images I downloaded. After saving the Image and Text in Paint.Net to a .pdn file and .jpg. I had to figure out how to compress the .jpg picture to less than 256KB using Windows Picture Manager.

Here is the free Background Updater Utility !

Here, we see the new Logon Image that I created and selected with the Utility.

So, when you reboot, you will see your custom picture.

Summary of Steps:

1. Find / make some Background Images that you want to use for the Logon Page.

I used Paint.Net to add Text on top of a Wallpaper image that I downloaded ( size < 256 KB ).

2. Download the Utility and run to pick your new Logon Background Image.

3. Reboot your machine and you should see the new Image on your logon page !

Take Care, LA Guy

UPDATE: You might also want to create a picture slideshow of the Background image after you have logged in !

This link shows you how.

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/create-a-desktop-background-slide-show

Hi again,

I luv browsing around and finding videos of people singing “covers” of popular songs.

Sometimes, the video has stuff that I don’t want to see etc and I was looking for a relatively easy and free way to chop off the beginning or end of a Flash Video ( .flv ) without converting to say .AVI.

So off to Google …

How to split a large FLV file into smaller FLVs without first converting

Thanks to Quint for his post on using the free Super program from eRightSoft to do this task.

NOTE: It may be complex to actually find the right place to get the SUPER download . I downloaded mine last year 2009.

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/552897 –

Many video enthusiasts want to split a large FLV video file into smaller chunks for editing or resharing only the interesting tidbits on the internet. Most programs require that you convert the flv into to another format( E.g. avi) and then back to a flv. I discovered the following flv editing/splitting by accident:
There is a free program called : SUPER
http://www.erightsoft.net/SUPER.html
This program can split a large FLV into smaller parts and keep it as a FLV file.

I include screenshots in this post to supplement the link instructions above.

SUPER will output the new FLV file in the same folder as the original file.

It’s a pretty complex program to learn.

Thanks, LA Guy

Hi all,

Happy 4th !

It’s been a while and I have/had this audio recording problem with my Dell Inspiron 1525 Laptop.

I wanted to record to a mp3 file whatever was playing on my computer.

Windows Sound Recorder didn’t work.

Audacity ( sound software ) didn’t work.

I saw on the web that others were having the same problem but no easy answer.

Something about not having the “Stereo Mix” feature in Control Panel > Sound – Recording Tab ( disabled devices ) in windows 7.

http://www.roemersoftware.com/vista-recording-problem.html ( see here for the discussion )

It didn’t help me because the Sigmatel Integrated Sound Card is on the motherboard and really didn’t support a “line in” plug etc etc etc.

I guess if you have a “real sound card” on your desktop PC then you will NOT have this problem as you will have a Stereo Mix option.

Anyway, after more frustration such as trying to use a Radio Shack Y adapter cable to pipe the stereo headphone output back into the microphone input plug unsuccessfully, I finally exploring and found this little gem:

http://www.abyssmedia.com/mp3recorder/

i-sound recorder solves the “record what you hear” problem on windows 7.

The free version only records 100 secs ( 1 min 40 secs ).

This program runs on your PC and then it just records what is playing without any configuration of your Sound drivers etc.

Hi again,

Need Help with Datasprings Module configuration.

Test1111 user is NOT an Adminstrator but has access to everything.

How to just Edit Form Fields ?

Thanks, Paul

ANSWER: At the top of the Page there was a DNN Control Panel with View / Edit radio buttons and the page was in EDIT Mode thus showing the Dynamic Registration Admin mode !

I want to get rid of this DNN Control Panel !!!

http://local.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Forums/tabid/795/forumid/118/threadid/189229/scope/posts/threadpage/2/Default.aspx

Hi, I am running the 4.5.5 ver of DNN. At the top of main page the bar "Mode View/Edit" is shown. Why is it? How can I get rid of it?

Go into Admin, Site settings and in the usability section change the Control Panel Security to Page Editors. This restores the option to how it was prior to 4.55 – invisible to module editors.
