How to just Edit Form Fields ?

Thanks, Paul

ANSWER: At the top of the Page there was a DNN Control Panel with View / Edit radio buttons and the page was in EDIT Mode thus showing the Dynamic Registration Admin mode !

I want to get rid of this DNN Control Panel !!!

Hi, I am running the 4.5.5 ver of DNN. At the top of main page the bar "Mode View/Edit" is shown. Why is it? How can I get rid of it?

Go into Admin, Site settings and in the usability section change the Control Panel Security to Page Editors. This restores the option to how it was prior to 4.55 – invisible to module editors.

Update: 3/9/10 After a bit more testing, I see this doesn’t resolve some of  hangs caused by javascript links. So, I’m retracting this as a fix.

Alternative, use Firefox or Chrome etc.

I don’t have IE 7 installed to check if DNN 5 has problems with that.

Sorry, Paul

Hi all,

I was testing Modules on a new DNN 5 install and some of the Links would hang ( frustrating ).

Refresh would sometimes work….  but no problems in Firefox / Chrome.

Tried the DNN Forum with no luck.

I stumbled on this fix today !

Matt Puskala’s article provides a ServerSide Fix to force IE7 compatibilty using Meta Data Tags in your default.aspx page

http://www.dmcinfo.com/blog.aspx/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/44/Forcing-IE8-Compatibility-Mode-in-Dot-Net-Nuke.aspx

Our page is built in Dot Net Nuke.  The appropriate way to apply this fix for DNN is to add the tag to the default.aspx file that is found in the root directory of your Dot Net Nuke website.  Any meta tag that is placed in here should be applied to all pages to your website.  Add the tag highlighted below in red at the top of the head section of the default.aspx file.

<head id="Head" runat="server">

    <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=EmulateIE7" />

    <meta content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" http-equiv="Content-Type"/>

Note that the tag must be placed at the top of the head section.  Also, be aware that updates of your DNN framework will overwrite this change.

This is more of a short-term fix.  In the long run, we will want to determine exactly what is causing these issues and get the pages to display appropriately in the new IE8 engine.

Thanks to Ty Seddon of CogniVista and Sebastian Leupold who contributed to this fix and Tim Warr, for posting about the meta tag for IE8.

Option 2:

You could also use Wil Strohl’s free DNN Injection Module and install the module and make it run on every page to put the meta tag dynamcially so that you don’t have to touch/replace the meta tags in default.aspx Core code.

I’m still trying this out, but looks good so far.

Thanks, LA Guy
